T.O.O.L.

T.O.O.L. (Tyrannical Oppressors Of Life) is the main antagonist organization in Gun Bros.

In-game description[]

The Tyrannical Oppressors Of Life, better known as T.O.O.L., have grown from the dankest levels of the criminal underworld, into a massive organization hell-bent on enslaving the galaxy.

T.O.O.L

A player fighting off Grunts and Runners on Cerberus Prime

Overview[]

T.O.O.L is a gigantic organization and army whose origin is unknown. Their ultimate goal is to enslave the entire galaxy. They have conquered entire planets in the galaxy and are for that reason F.R.A.G.G.E.D.'s main enemy. The T.O.O.L army is huge and consists of soldiers, mutants, robots, and cyborgs.

Types of Enemies[]

Melee[]

This group includes :

They are the weakest enemies in the game, having low health and damage, but they often come in large numbers. They charge at the player and attack when they come close enough. Spread guns and rocket launchers are highly effective against these enemies as they can damage several of them at once.

Gun[]

This group includes :

Similar to Melee enemies, they have low health and damage, but Gun enemies have ranged weapons that fire slow-moving projectiles at the player. Being surrounded by these enemies can be deadly, as the player will have no way of avoiding their projectiles.

Crab[]

This group includes :

Crab enemies are small armored robots with legs that look like crabs, with the exception of the Gillie, which is a human in a ghillie suit. They are invulnerable to damage until their weak spots are exposed, which can be done by shooting at them a few times (the Gillie will expose themselves every few seconds to shoot at the player, shooting at them while they are hidden will do nothing). It should be noted that weapons with sufficient power (like the Coronal Ejector) can kill them even while unexposed.

Kamikaze[]

This group includes :

The Kamikaze are insane T.O.O.L. units that engage the player with suicide bomb attacks, killing themselves in the process. They behave like normal Melee enemies until they reach a specific range, where they will pull their grenade pins and move at an increased speed, though they are more vulnerable in this state. Should they not reach the player in time after pulling their pins, they will self-destruct on their own, but in this case no XP is awarded.

Pus Tank[]

This group includes :

Like their name suggests, Pus Tanks are hulking units that have relatively high health, acting as tanks for other enemies. Most of them have two attacks, one of which is a blast from their arm cannon, and a sweep attack when in close proximity to the player, which deals substantial knockback. Wild Bill is a unique variation of the Pus Tanks that periodically fire their miniguns at the player.

Flamethrower[]

This group includes :

They are strong and heavily armored T.O.O.L. units that move slowly but carry devastating flamethrowers. They are unable to rotate while attacking, which gives the player a chance to shoot at their backs where they will receive additional damage.

Bazooka[]

This group includes :

Bazookas are essentially projectile-oriented Pus Tanks. They fire a stream of rockets at the player when they get close enough. They fire one bullet at a time (2 for Cannoneers) and don't stop until the player is far enough away. As they have limited range, the player can outrange them by shooting from far away. The Long Range tries to hide from the player while using their sniper rifles.

Elite[]

This group includes :

They have a fast movement speed, but their bullets are slow. Try to keep away before they unleash a wave of slow-moving projectiles that are hard to dodge.

Artillery[]

This group includes :

The Tank Head fires three highly-damaging Xplodium rounds in a spread pattern three times, then readjusts its position to get a better aim. They can only be damaged in the back, or when they readjust. It is best to simply avoid the Tank Head until all other enemies are defeated. 20 XP, found on Cerberus Prime.

The AT-WAT fires four highly-damaging blasts three times. The blasts go in all directions. It is easier to destroy the AT-WAT because it can be hit from any direction. Be sure to pay attention to where its turrets are pointing to determine where the bullets will be shot from. 20 XP, found on Haven.

The Skull Tank drives up to the player and fires many shells in their direction. It has a weak spot on the front, but it is dangerous to try and shoot this because the player will be in range of its shells. It is fairly easy to destroy the skull tank simply by shooting it from behind. 40 XP, found on Ceres 2.

The Cube Tank also drives up and fires bullets at the player. They do not have as much health as the rest of the artillery units. 10 XP, found on Yeroc Sina.

Special[]

Special units only appear on specific planets. Each one is different:

Pus Tank EX : Slow, lumbering giants that shoot slow but powerful energy balls at the player. If the player get too close, they will either hit them with a powerful melee attack or pound the ground, stunning them with a shockwave. It is recommended them out at a distance. 20 XP, found on Cerberus Prime.

Commando: Commandos run close to the player and fire seven or eight shots, and then laugh. They have incredibly high armor and are hard to take down. Be sure to dodge their bullets and constantly keep shooting them. 20 XP, found on Haven.

Madamn: Female ninja-like units that throw red daggers that deal incredible damage. At close range, she will use a devastating spin attack with her two swords. Destroy her at range, watching out for the red daggers, which are easy to dodge. 40 XP, found on Ceres 2.

Sarge : They act similarly to the Commandos, firing many bullets in the player's direction and having tough armor. 20 XP, found on Yeroc Sina.

Planets[]

  • Cerberus Prime: This volcanic planet is a T.O.O.L. stronghold and a gateway to the extrasolar planets under their regime.
  • Haven: A once peaceful world, which has been ravaged by T.O.O.L. marauders.
  • Ceres 2: A planetoid holding many resources conquered by T.O.O.L.
  • Yeroc Sina: An earth-like planet conquered by T.O.O.L.
  • Bokor: Not actually conquered, this planet is used as a toxic dump by T.O.O.L., causing all the inhabitants to have turned into zombies.
  • 5 other planets : never saw release, were planned along with concept art by Chris "Handloser" (Lead artist of Gun Bros 1)
